Care Of The Australian Cattle Dog

Writer's picture: Veterinary InnovatorsVeterinary Innovators

Australian Cattle Dogs are hardworking; lots of mental and physical stimulation are essential. Leaving them alone for too long and getting them stuck in an apartment aren't good ideas. Boredom results in destructiveness— these dogs are fond of chewing. These dogs require a well-fenced, spacious area. So if you'd like to have a dog of this breed, you must provide him with lots of physical/mental stimulation. These dogs have herding/chasing instincts, but if you aren't a cattle/sheep farmer, canine sports can be an excellent idea. These dogs love challenges and sports.

Training and early socialization are essential to help your puppy grow up well-rounded. Without it, they may get timid. Their tendency to mouth, bite, and chew should be addressed carefully. It's necessary to teach these dogs not to get their mouths near people but only on appropriate items like sturdy toys.
