Grooming Needs Of Shorthaired Cats

Before you start grooming your cat, massage her skin gently and stroke her body softly. This will help her feel calm and comfortable. You can also run your fingers on her hair to separate any tangled hair before brushing or combing it.

If you notice that your cat is at ease and ready for the grooming session, start combing her hair with a fine-toothed comb to remove any fleas that she may have. It will also help remove dead hair which usually causes lumps.

Continue brushing your cat’s hair in a gentle, up-and-down stroke. Do it repeatedly until you notice that your cat’s fur is smooth and free from tangles. You must not rush this process as this may be painful to your cat. Some of the hair may have stuck to her skin so brushing must be done as gently as possible.

Any problem affecting your pet's skin and/or hair coat should require a visit to your pet hospital Omaha, NE.
