Can You Offer Tuna To Your Pet Kitten?

Pet kittens can be offered small quantities of tuna daily. Kittens must not be fed food products totaling over 1 tablespoon daily of the food items that are not their primary diet. If you offer your kitten tuna that is less than this mentioned quantity or less, then your pet should not manifest any issues.

Tuna, on its own, is a food product that has no benefits when given as a component of your cat’s diet.

Kittens who eat larger quantities of tuna are observed to develop critical health problems such as:

  • Nutrition deficiencies, particularly in calcium.

  • Thiamine deficiencies, because tuna has enzymes that utilize the thiamine that cats need for survival.

  • Pansteatitis is a painful and possibly deadly inflammation of body fat.

  • Lower urinary tract disease, which is an inflammation of your cat’s bladder, causing discomfort.

  • Unusual and abnormal bleeding, because of the tuna reducing the effectiveness of vitamin K.

Your pet’s diet is one of the important concerns that you should discuss with your veterinarian Ashburn, VA during your pet’s wellness checks.
