Are There Any Other Advantages of Annual Vaccination of Pets?

Updated: Aug 18, 2022

Not all vaccinations give a year's worth of protection. Vaccines for non-viral illnesses such as Bordetella and Chlamydia, in particular, confer protection below one year. Getting the feline leukemia vaccine is also suggested to be done annually for felines that go outside or come into contact with other cats. With the help of your veterinarian, you should select which immunizations your cat should have each year, depending on your cat's age, lifestyle, and health status.

Your veterinarian will do a health and wellness assessment before vaccination delivery. Your veterinarian will also ask specific questions regarding your cat's health. The veterinarian will examine your pet's head, neck, chest, belly, skin, joints, muscles, and lymph nodes. During these visits, veterinarians commonly find infections on the ears or teeth and diseases that do not display distinct or apparent symptoms, such as underlying cardiac abnormalities, metabolic issues, or organ failure. Early detection of these allows for more successful and effective therapy, which may enhance your cat's quality of life.

If you have questions and/or concerns about vaccination in pets, talk to your pet clinic Burlington, ON about them.
